Foreign Minister of Hungary announces Long-Term Factory Development Program

On March 5, Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, visited Graboplast Zrt. and officially announced an innovative investment that will play a key role in the future not only in increasing production efficiency but also in achieving our sustainability objectives.

As a result of the investment, waste generated during manufacturing—including solid flooring remnants, edge trim waste, scrap, and in-process production losses—will be reintegrated into the production process. The processed material will be used to create a compact carrier layer that further strengthens the flooring structure while reducing the amount of waste and the volume of primary raw materials used. The proportion of total production waste recycled into our finished products is expected to nearly double compared to the current level.

The concept also places strong emphasis on the Industry 4.0 approach and the implementation of modern manufacturing automation solutions. One of the most significant elements of the development is the modernization of quality control for semi-finished products during production: camera systems and advanced sensors will enable real-time, highly precise inspection processes.

In parallel, several subprocesses within manufacturing and packaging operations will also be automated, affecting all three of our company’s production sites. These developments will not only result in more efficient operations but will also significantly improve the safety and predictability of work processes.

In order to realize the above projects, we have also launched a comprehensive research and development program. As a result of this development, the application of new lacquer systems will enable our products to feature more environmentally friendly, more sustainable, and higher-quality surface finishes.

We would also like to express our gratitude that the Government has deemed our investment plans worthy of support and is contributing to the implementation of the project by reimbursing nearly one-third of the costs.

We are convinced that, as a result of this investment, we will be able to produce more products at lower costs, with less waste generated, and at even higher quality.
